New study on precancer
Hi,
I just received my Family Circle magazine 5/21/02 issue. In it there was a study done where women with cervical pre cancer were given either a placebo or 200-400mgs of 13C(found in broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage.
After 12 weeks, no one in the placebo group had her cervical cells revert to normal...but half of those who took 13C precancers turned back to normal!!!!
13C stands for indole-3-carbinol. The article says that those who wish to prevent cervical cancer might eat more raw cruciferous vegetables or take a supplement!!
I know most of us don't have our cervix anymore, but we're all worried about a recurrence elsewhere!!
So ladies...eat your broccoli!!
I just wanted to pass this info along!! Of course, this is not medical advise, and check everything out with your dr.
: )

Thanks, Transplant!
I was needing a little more encouragement to eat the broccoli and this just might be it! Even if it doesn't help, it certainly can't hurt either (I think Kaatie just said that!) and has so many other health benefits besides.
