just a thought! are there videos of this procedure

This may be a little weird from some of you...But are there any videos of this procedures to see what exactly is being done to you. I have heard people say..you're laying with your legs propped in stir ups and you're arms are tied and something being over your face and eyes taped. I'm sorry ...but i'm terrified and my surgery date is monday. I'm really a bucket...pot...pan...cup...and everything else a bunch of nerves...Help!

Re: just a thought! are there videos of this procedure

Yep, you can youtube it. I find it fascinating.

However, before you do that, tell your friends to shut up.

Yes, your legs are in stirrups and you're completely draped. Your vagina (where an assistant is actually using a tool to move your uterus via the vagina to allow the surgeon access and visibility) is exposed.

Your arms are strapped down (not tight) to keep them from falling off the boards. There is usually a drape between your face and the surgical site. It's part of the "sterile field" measures. Your eyes are taped closed because they sometimes open a bit with anesthesia and if you aren't blinking, they will get dry and bad things happen.

It's all very professional and there is good reason for all of it.

Re: just a thought! are there videos of this procedure

I watched a lot of the youtube videos. I needed to see the process. And I too found it fascinating.
I admit when I was wheeled in to the operating room I was a little apprehensive. Seeing all the equipment and team members. But hey I saw the video.
The operating room was a little chilly but I am pleased to say they warmed up the table. The table is narrow as lots of people and equipment need to fit around it. A kind nurse saw that I was a little scared and she said your focus is now on me. She said look into my eyes and what I saw was kindness. And to sleep I went and the next thing I knew I was being woken up in recovery and asked if I knew where I was. I have a brief recollection prior to this of someone telling me my uterus was massive. I must have been just coming out of surgery at that time. Man that was one of my best naps to date. Later in the day my surgeon visited me to discuss and to show me cell phone pictures of my uterus. I was at a teaching hospital and signed a release about non-identifying pictures being taken. I thought I want to a picture to so I made the request in the pre-op room. You will be well taken care of these medical folks are pros. You got this
