Calm before the storm?

Okay wise ladies,
What's up with this calm I am feeling? Tomorrow's my surgery, and I am okay. This is SO not like me.
Is this the first real sign of mental illness?A split personality has taken over?.. lol

Where there any of you who were calm before hand?
Or this just a huge fake out my mind is playing?
OR just one of the many many stages one goes through prior to surgery. (part of the roller coaster)
let me know

Calm before the storm?

Hi! I felt that way, too, the day before. I think it's part of the process. Everything you can do, you have done; no more running around, no more nesting, no more freaking out....just some nice quiet time to be in your home and gather your inner resources.

I think a Monday surgery (mine was, too) is easier than any other day....you have that mental "day of rest" thing happening on Sunday.

Don't be alarmed if you wake up tomorrow morning feeling anxious...that's perfectly normal. Just remember that we have all walked in your shoes...we're thinking of you and sending love and support, and it will be over faster than you can imagine.

We'll all be here waiting to hear your story when you get home!

Much love and luck to you tomorrow!

Calm before the storm?

KarenL,
Thanks for the validation... and yes I am sure tomorrow I will be freaked again........... maybe, maybe not?

I havent done all that is needed to do, doing that today..... along with running back to this site every few mins..lol

Boyfriend is moving computer next to bed, with long extention cords for keyboard and mouse.... figure I'll be better able to get my "hystersisters fix" while laying down in bed..... Yep, I'm hooked!
He is so funny, he is out buying me a shower stool, hand held shower head.... files for all the magazines I will now have the time to go through and cut out all the "great ideas" I am (someday) going to do. (I am addicted to decorating magazines too..lol)

Guess he is doing the "nesting" thing today. It sure feels great to have him pampering me right now......... it does make all the difference in the world today.

Thank you again for your kindness and support too.

Calm before the storm?

Hi, Donna--

I'll be right there with ya tomorrow!! I have to be at the castle at 6:00 for 7:30 surgery. I'm taking my personal CD player so I can kind of "tune out" while I have to do that awful waiting--hoping that will help.

I understand the calm part--except I've had mine up until the last few days. You work hard to make the best decision, ask all the questions you can think of--so what else is there? I thought that for most of the 5 weeks I've known. I've also been kept busy out of my mind trying to get things ready at work. Now that work is ALMOST ready (good grief, I've got to go down there before morning to do one last thing!!!), I'm trying to catch up on cleaning--plus taking HysterSisters breaks

We'll do this together, Donna, along with all those other ladies out there on this site who are so caring and are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers Yea, HysterSisters

Me too, tomorrow!

HI Everyone!
I'm going in tomorrow at 5:45 for 7:30 surgery too. Funny, someone mentioned "nesting." That's what I've been doing these last few days! I take care of two families [my own and my sister+dad] and two houses, and I've made sure that everything is in order. And as someone said, I'm calm now. Later I'll probably not sleep!
Good luck to everyone with surgery tomorrow--we're in on this together--

Donna--

You're having surgery on the west coast, and I'm having it on the east coast tomorrow. Hands across the nation! Why I'm calm too, I don't know. Every so often it hits me and I get this wave of faintness. I'm a major baby too, so I can understand.
Hugs!

Calm before the storm?

Donna Fay, I will be thinking about you tomorrow. Sounds like you will be a real in post-op!

I was very calm the day before and the day of surgery. I had to be at the hosptial at 6:30 a.m. and I wasn't really shaky like I thought I was. What you are feeling is normal for you, you are human.
