CT scan tomorrow..

Well, wouldn't you just know it.. I've got a CT scan 8 am in the morning - rescheduled from last Thurs. and my old 'friend' came by for one last visit. I was acutally expecting her, but she was a day or two late, so I thought she might give me a break for old times sake!

Anyway, here's a 'delicate' question. Will the tampon intefere with tha scan, or should I wear a pad? I'm sure I'll run this rather embarrasing question by the tech in the morning, but was wondering if anyone else had faced this situation..

She should be outta hear by sometime Tues., just in time fir surgery on Wed., thank goodness...

My dh thought it was a good idea that I see her one last time.. I guess he's right, it gives me some type of closure about the whole thing..

Oh well, I'm starting to ramble now...

If anyone can give me an idea of what I should do for the CT scan tomorrow, I'd appreciate it...

I'd ask the Technician

I'm sure they run into this frequently. I'd take along a pad because I think a tampon would not be allowable. Also they can put chux or a towel under you and the CT does not last all that long once you're in there.

CT scan tomorrow..

Every CT is different, depending on what exactly they are imaging. Here's my experience. I can't eat or drink the am of the procedure. Before I leave the house, I drink a yucky milkshake of the contrast material. When I get there I get scanned once (It doesn't take that long). Then they pull me out of the tube and put in an IV. In goes more contrast. One more set of pictures. Relax for a few minutes while the tech makes sure all the pictures are clear. In my case, I could leave my clothes on, so long as they were thin with no metal. I think I wore gym pants and a t-shirt which is my usual testing uniform (easy to get in and out of in case I need to strip or do an exam)

Thanks for the replies... I just got home from it. It wasn't too bad. With as many diets as I've been on, I swear most of the 'nutrition' drinks were worse than the barium! However, the barium went right thru me, I barely made it to the imaging center. And now I'm afraid to leave the house to do groc. shopping cause i don't wanna get too far from the bathroom! Geez.. Hopefully this stuff will flush out soon..

I wore a pad just in case, but the tech seemed to care less and told me I could keep my underwear on, tho I did need to change into scrubs..

WHen they injected the dye, I felt really flush and started having trouble breathing. I imagined that you were all there with me and it REALLY did calm me and help me steady my breathing..

Thanks for being there ladies! ; )
