Stress and Waiting 7 days to go!

I am having a full hysterectomy, age 42, and already have a child and don't want anymore. I have had back pain, problems with mood swings, ovarian cysts that keep coming back. My doctor has recommended that I go ahead and have a full hysterectomy and he asures me I will feel much better. I have talked with many ladies and they say, it's the best surgery they have had. Say, it has changed their lives for the better!

Stress and Waiting 7 days to go!

Hi Lela!
I am one of those where hysterectomy made a huge difference in my quality of life. Of course it is not a cure all, but hopefully for you, it will have a positive impact also! Spend time here reading on what you can expect pre op and post op. If you are having your ovaries removed and are expecting hormone therapy, you may also want to check out the hormone jungle to get information on what to expect there. Good luck to you!

Stress and Waiting 7 days to go!

I can say without a doubt, this surgery was the best thing I could do for myself. I feel so much better now. Was going to keep my ovaries, but when doc got in there, she had no choice but to take them. Cysts, adhesions, etc.

My mom also told me that after surgery I'd feel so good, that I'd know how bad I felt before. I always thought I felt fine. Now I know how 'fine' is supposed to feel.

I also have to talk to my GP, I've been on antidepressants, and I'm wondering if all that gook inside me wasn't the cause of the depression. Maybe I can get off those meds now! :
