rectocele & cystocele

Hello Ladies
Just been to see gyni (UK) and described my symtoms, to which he listened to , i was most suprised! He tells me i have Rectocele and Cystocele, which can be repaired, But couldnt tell if my uterus has prolapesed aswell, so i dont know if i will have a Hyst untill i wake up ?
Is this common? I did make it clear that i would be happy with having Hyst
But it botheres me not knowing till after surgery,
Do alot of gynis wait till they are in there befor making a decission, i would have thourght a Hyst would take a long time to do, longer than 'repair' work,
Any advise would be wellcome,
Best wishes to all

rectocele & cystocele

I also have rectocele & cystocele -due to a prolapse of the uterus. Its to my understanding that the prolapsed uterus causes this

*I am not a doctor*

This is what I was told from my gyn when he examined me.
I am having my surgery on May 15th.
I am having a TVH (Total vaginal--uterus and cervix) removed--and the rectocele & cystocele repairs.
The cystocele I was told was the baldder bulging into the top of vaginal wall--repaired by tacking it.
And the rectocele was the muscle in between the vaginal wall and the rectum (told me child birth stretched it and need to be tightened up)
There are post on this--that's where I have gotten tons of info.
Just go to the search and type it and and see if that helps.
Good luck

rectocele & cystocele

I saw 2 different gyn for rectocele and cystocele - one said she would not leave the uterus b/c in a matter of time this, too, would prolapse b/c of the weak pelvic floor muscles, although it may take 5 years (and who wants to face this again in 5 years?) Second dr said he would not do a hysterectomy "just Because", but found on examination that it was prolapsed as well. If you are past the child bearing issue, I wouls say take it. But this, again, is a personal decision, one that you have to make on your own. Best of wishes to you!
