Hormone therapy to be or not to be

LOL this is my second time posting...i hope i get this right...but then i am internet illiterate here tooo lol.... I will be going to have a total abdominal hyster. with a bladder tact.... I do not know which one i am looking forward to the most.... Not havin' to invest in tampon stock or the ability to cough/sneeze without saying OOOPPPPSSS.
I have a mass on my right ovary, the dr think it is a fibroid cyst...of course i said take it alll out...but i have been dealing with this over a year but now the pain has come so something will be done. Being over 40, the doctor said that this will be the right choice...
My Question is what hormone therapy works the best...i have tried searching but so much information thrown out there difficult to decipher...i would like to know what my choice could be...My doctor is planning to go over this on my pre-op appt but i want to be informed...
All your input would be wonderful
i am glad i found this site...It is so helpful

Hormone therapy to be or not to be

Hi There, I just wanted to write and let you know that I had my Last Remaining Ovary Removed Last Month. My Doctor Put me on Menest 0.625mg. That was not a High Enough Dose so she Put me on 1.25mg and that is Working Beautifully!! Every Person is Different but I wanted to let you know what I am taking and how well it is working. Best of Luck To You!!

Hi, I just had my tah/bso on April 22, and my doctor started me out with a patch the first day, then when I came home with Premerin 1.25. So far so good, I haven't had any mood swings or crying spells like some of the ladies had post-op. Good luck to you.

Hormone therapy to be or not to be

Hi,
Boy do we all wish there was a one size fit's all for the hormones.
There are so many factors, including your age, that can effect what you need and how much etc. Then it is sometimes trial and error.
My doc started me on the 1mg Vivelle Dot. It was too much, so I have cut it in half and it is working well. I am almost 51 and had alot of estrogen stored in my body prior to surgery. I still may be burning it off.
Please visit the Hormone Jungle and read the pull down menu's and then go the message boards there. Lot's of good info. And then make sure your doc will really work with you on Hormone Balance. Some doc's want to do this and others don't so you may need to seek a specialist later on. Or you may get lucky and the first thing you try will work well. Here's the link:

Good luck.

Hi and welcome...I am 16 days post op and on Estrace 2mg daily and so far so good...started on day 2 post op...I did a lot of research and if I would not have requested Estrace I would have got Premarin...the med student doctors already had my Premarin prescription written up and my GYN had to remind them I requested Estrace...do some research and see what is best for you...I am 31 and Estrace has worked great so far!
