Anyone watch the show "Home Improvement"?

Hi Ladies. I watch this show on and off. Tonight I decided to watch it because of the topic of the show. Tim's wife, Jill was having some monthy problems so she went to see the gyn. Gyn did his exam, etc and discovered Jill had a fibroid the size of a grapefruit. When the show ended, Jill was in the OR and they were closing her up (they did a TAH). The alarms were beeping cause she was going into shock. It is a 2 part show, so tomorrow night at 6 p.m. cst it will be continued with her going home.

Ladies, this show made me teary eyed. Just thinking of what we all go through with this type of surgery and recovery. It protrayed EXACTLY what happens. If you still have time, watch it. If not, I have pretty much detailed what the main focus of the show was. If you can, watch tomorrow nights show ~ the continuation.

***** Please let me add that shock is not a normal occurance ***** princessh pointed this out on this same post over on pre-op boards. Feel like a big dope for not mentioning this.

Thanks.

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen this subject covered in such detail on TV except for on magazine shows like Good Morning America or Today.

I would never have thought that I'd hear the word 'fibroid' on a sitcom!

Thanks for letting us know.

I know people arent 'ticked' I posted about this ~ but I get the feeling some aren't happy about it. I apologize ~ judgement was off. What one person feels about a show the other(s) may not. I should of had not even posted this.

Amy - I posted to you on the pre-op forum too.

I think Tim Allen and all at Home Improvement did a VERY good job with this story, considering the fact that they have only 22 minutes per episode (that other eight minutes is advertising time) to tell a story. They tackled a tough subject, and remember, they need a 'cliffhanger' to end episode one of a two-parter. (Can you tell I'm in the entertainment industry yet? )

A couple of people mentioned that Jill was not doing what she was supposed to do after surgery and that she was doing too much. The character of Jill is a 'do-it-all' kind of woman. She wants it all, she wants to do it all, and she doesn't want help with much. The show had longstanding, developed characters, and for Jill to have been a 'good princess' would have been unrealistic for that character.

Overall I think it was a very good story, well written, and touched on many of the most important aspects of the subject.

IMO

The more these issues get mentioned in public, in *any* forum, the less women with gyn problems will feel alone, and like they are "the only one", and can't talk to anyone about it. If the show gets people talking, good for them. Thank you for posting about it - I've seen the show a few times (and liked it) - nice to know they are doing some good in the world.

Thanks for posting the info about the show. I plan to watch the second part tonight. Sounds like it will be informative, and we all know knowledge is power.
