Humor is the best medicine...

I know that this surgery is major and I myself am sitting with an AIS and CIN3 diagnosis with positive margins. I have a script for valium at home and I was a complete paralyzed mess during the pap, colpo, ecc, endometrial biopsy, LEEP process and unending waiting.

BUT....

I've found quite a bit of release and fun in the joking part. Most women I know that have been through this - once they heal - are so happy. Everyone is having this surgery for a reason - assumed that there will be a benefit for them afterwards.

Maybe for the sisters that are awaiting an appointment some hyster-humor is needed?

I can start - I tend to cope by swearing, sarcasm and humor. I will not swear here

1. My mother's day pre surgery will also be my Uterus Begone party. I am spending part of it with my sister and mother and my mother has declared we all get "uterus pink" toenails.
2. I had to google to find out what happened to my vagina, I imagined a tube that traveled "into the abyss". I think it's ridiculous to call it a cuff when it is a sock!
3. I plan to bring all my unused tampons and condoms to "ceremoniously" offer others since I will "no longer need them" ::snicker snicker::
4. I think it would be funny to have 50 Shades of Grey on my hospital nighstand

I just saw another poster say she was getting divorced from her uterus for "irreconcilable differences".

Post your funny hyster humor here. We could all use a laugh and a little love. I'd like some of these funny things to be circling my mind while I'm in the hospital myself.

Re: Humor is the best medicine...

Love your post! I am getting ready to have my hysterectomy as well! Next Friday is my last day at work. I love that you and your mom and your sister are going to do something fun like that. My mom is acting like this is no big deal and even suggested I push back the surgery. I am miserable and that is just not an option. It sounds like you have great support, I envy that! Thanks for the humor, I definitly needed it

Re: Humor is the best medicine...

Love it! Humor can see us all through these hard things we are having to face. Love the idea of a uterus begone party. Maybe I'll do a bon voyage uterus party ;0) Thank you for putting a smile on my face.

Humor is the best medicine...

I also had no idea what would take the place of my cervix, I pictured a black hole that went into the abyss. I asked my husband what he thought and He wanted to know why it mattered. I said "well, where does the sperm go?" He said it would go into my abdominal cavity and float around until being absorbed by my body.

WOW.

Re: Humor is the best medicine...

Funny story during recovery: shortly after surgery we started having trouble with our kitchen stove. Since my husband was struggling with trying to help with cooking he was really stressing. So I told him not too worry that the stove must be female like me because it's thermostat wasn't working anymore either. Too hot when he didn't need it to be and too cold when he wanted it hot. We had a good laugh and helped reduce his stress with 2 situations he wasn't handling very well.
