Well, I'm home from the castle....(long)

remind me to have the moat cleaned!!
Got to the Castle at the appointed hour...nerves were REALLYY bad by now....asked a few questions, took temp and blood pressure....little thing they put on your finger wouldn't stay in place and alarmed the nurse...she asked if I was having trouble breathing....said nope...I must be dead....lol....was given a demerol cocktail to relax me. Met my "A" Man shortly after I was given my I.V. Said goodbye to Husband and was wheeled away.
OR was freezing!. I moved over to the table....the "A"Man said things were gonna get fuzzy and they did....here comes the mask...1....2......wow recovery?
They asked how my pain was...handed me my PCA of morpheine...and was smiling after that!
Found my husband and son in my room waiting for me....a welcome sight!!
Never really got over a 2 on the pain scale...except for my first coughing attack where I went to a 4....click on PCA...all better now!
Never got sick/ill from the General...in fact was having Jello and chicken broth through the evening and was having juice and popsicles too!
Doc came in at 7am the next morning said everything went great, I did fine. I had the pleasant surprise of finding the verticle incision he was planning to do was replaced by a 8" bikini cut...merry christmas to me!
He said everything looked good and expected a totally clean path report!! Another gift!
Nurses were awesome and playful, since I ended up in the ob wing next to the newborns. Great inspiration to get up and walk so I could see the babies!!
They would call me and ask me if I needed anything!!
Told them and Doctor all about this site again....they said they would defiantely come and check it out!
Catheter came out along with I.V. the next morning. Had trouble getting my bladder to wake up but it was only temporary.
Was put on full diet again...and Hubby said I was eating better than he and the boys were!! (Was true, food was as good as going to a restuarant!)
They said I might have to saty an extra day due to a pesky temp. but pain regiment, lots of fluids and walking thru the night helped!
It is true...waiting is the hardest girls.....I feel better than I have in years!
I'll go back next week to get the staples out...love the fact that my constant backache is gone!
I'll talk to you all again soon in Post op boards!!

Wow, great post-op castle report, Janet! I'm glad you had such a good experience, sounds like mine! I too was surprised with a horizontal cut and I had the bonus of keeping my ovaries as well.

Remember your training, rest, walk, drink and rest some more. Join us on the post-op board when you are ready, no rush, we will be there!
