Helpful Suggestions if you have Existing Health Conditions

I have multiple health issues and I wanted to share some suggestions on things that have helped me:
1. If you are a hard stick for blood or IVs ask if they have an ultrasound machine to locate a good vein. Ask if they can obtain your blood from your iv instead of sticking you.
2. Let the anesthesiologist know if you have motion sickness or vomit or feel nauseated after other surgeries.
3. Let your surgery team know if it is your first operation and ask for detailed explanations of everything to help ease your nerves.
4. Let your surgery team know if you have tmj, neck, or back issues. They can take extra steps to prevent post op pain.
5. Ask ahead of time of when you will be able to obtain your records involving your surgery.
6. Let your doctor know if you have bad anxiety due to your upcoming surgery.
7. Ask what you take if you end up constipated after surgery.
8. Ask for a butterfly needle if you have to be stuck for blood and are a hard stick.
