Kept my cervix

My doctor and I made the decision to keep my cervix. Because I have never had an abnormal pap smear he felt it best to keep it. My doctor also feels it offers support as well as sexual gratification. I will have to have pap smears still.... but am not really too concerned with that.

Kept mine

I argued for and kept my cervix and 1 ovary/tube. For me it was a sex issue. I had read in numerous websites that it helped aid in orgasms and that if a woman was used to experiencing "deep" orgasms then the orgasms wouldn't feel the same if they took it all. I knew that I felt intense contractions in my uterus and cervix during orgasm and didn't want to lose that feeling. I don't regret for one minute keeping my cervix and I figure worrying about possiblilties of mini periods and cervical cancer was worth being able to experience the wonderfully powerful orgasms. It still cramps afterwards but I know eventually that will go away once my body heals. Good luck and remember to drink plenty of water, take it easy afterwards and pamper yourself.

I had mine removed

HI there,

I was also uncertain about the cervix. When I asked my doctor, he said, if it was his wife he'd have her remove it. He doesnt feel it will change anything sexually - in fact, he said his patients who have had them removed report great sex after - I am sure it helps to not have the pain anymore, and it cannot be entirely attributed to the cervix or not, but one never knows.

I had mine removed. I trust his advice. If he/she says to remove it, remove it and if they say to keep it, keep it. Only your doctor knows.

Best of luck to you on your upcoming day -

Wearing this crown is the best feeling ever!!!!!!!!!

kept mine

Had my surgery on May 7. Decided to keep mine at last minute (literally the day before) My doctor was very supportive so long as I understood that it meant going in abdominally and that I would have to have annual paps still. Doctor said she supported my decision since keeping your cervix helps support the pelvic floor. Hope that helps

Did you keep your cervix or have it removed? And why.

My cervix is going along with the rest of it. I have had abnormal paps in the past, albeiet about 10 years ago, but my doc says it goes and I agree.

I am looking forward to getting the TAH/BSO behind me. I am having the ovary pain where the scar tissue is right now.....the last time I should feel this, I am sooo tired of it. 20 yrs worth of putting up with it. Wish I would have gotten myself taken care of sooner.
