Greetings from a new hystersister (long)

Tamara,

I just wanted to wish you the best for your surgery. Everything will go well. We are all here for ya anytime you need us. We can get through this together.

I can relate to some of the same things you went through. My general doc sent me to another gyn for a second opinion and after the thorourgh exam, she thought i had something wrong with my lymph nodes. So sure that she even basically said i had cancer and sent me to see an oncologist. I was not happy with this because i didnt think it was right to tell someone that and not know for sure. Even the oncologist was upset that she told me this.
I had the lap done and no cancer found, pretty much like my regular doc thought. I was barely recovered and awake from that surgery and the doc that did it was trying, i thought, to get us to set a date for the hysterectomy. Come to find out he was setting the date for the pre-op appt. We were told at the time it was for the post-op for the lap. I found out it was pre-op when I too missed that appt by a couple hours. I wrote it on my calendar correctly at 11:30am, but had it in my head it was at 3:30pm. So I called to see what to do about it and the person who answered was pretty rude and I got hysterical. That woman then asked if i would like the nurse to give me a call back. I agreed. The nurse called and I explained what was going on and she told me she was going to talk to my doctor and tell him and call back. Needless to say I was at the bottom of the pit at this point. Well, she called to say that my doc would come in the next week especially for me for the pre-op appt. and then she gave me the date for my surgery. I went from one extreme to the other.....one minute i was so upset to being on cloud nine because I didnt have to wait as long as i thought to have the surgery. I just want it over with and hopefully have the pain and Aunt Flo gone.

Turns out, I have massive scar tissue on right ovary and tube and adhesions on both sides. My ovaries are not even where they are supposed to be and everything is adhered to everything else so they think it is best to remove everything. I am totally fine with this. I was done with it anyway. I proved that one gyn wrong with the fact that there is no cancer. YIPEE!

My dh and I were settled in the fact that no matter what they found, I was in good hands and they could help make me well. I have been putting up and putting off getting myself the proper care for almost 20 years.

As a matter of fact, I will be 38 the day you become a princess, dear hyster sister. I will follow in your royal footsteps 4 days after you. I too was pretty nervous until I found this site by accident. I have learn alot and have become somewhat sane and reassured by all the other wonderful sisters here. This is a great place to hang out.

You guys are soooooooooooo great. Making me cry over here..... All of your posts and information and well wishes have helped me get over myself and focus on the positive, and look for the blessing in this situation (they are always there somewhere) One of which has been this site and all you FABULOUS women Thanks so much!

Maria: Just had my last Aunt Flo... planning period panty bonfire! One great lesson I have learned from this is to take care of myself better by not putting up/putting off. I'm really good at that one too. What a wake up call this has been. I will be turning 38 again on June 27, I did it last year and decided it was a good place to stay for another 10 years. to you!! And a big too! ll

Kiwi: Howdy neighbor and same day hystersister! My surgery is at Huntington Memorial in Pasadena, chosen by Oncologist. (She's across the street from hospital) Otherwise, I probably would have been at Foothill too. We might have been roomates there. Only 5 more days now....how ya doing? Are you nervous?
We will be fine and at the other side before we know it. Good luck to you too.

Jo and other fine wine lovin' hystersisters... I have not had any fine wine to drink since that day and I really miss it and I really want some, but trying to be good before surgery. Today is my anniversary and I am really tempted......

Tamara,

Can I throw my panties in the fire too? Just had my last visit from Aunt Flo too! YIPEE!
A friend suggested I throw all mine out and buy new after recovery.
Someone else said to me earlier that they have never seen anyone so excited to have surgery as i am. I said if you have been through what I have, you would be happy about it too.

Thank you for the birthday wish. That was so sweet. Happy anniversary darlin!

I think we owe it to ourselves to celebrate somehow.....a new beginning to a better quality of life and for all the friendships being developed here.

Same Day Sister and Neighbor

Hey Tamara... well we have 4 days left.. and I am ready to have this over with. I have had many friends at Huntington Memorial (babies and surgeries) and it is a great hospital. Too bad you couldn't have it at Foothill though as it would be great to have a hystersister as a roommate! (but since we can't.. let's hope for no roommates!! ) By the way... happy late anniversary... and if I don't talk to you before our big day... good luck to you.
BIG to you!

Howdy same day hystersister!

Three days left. I really have been Ok until today, had to do pre op blood work (did other pre op stuff Friday) and it all started to hit me very hard. I am very nervous. Have been shopping all morning trying to take my mind of it (good excuse to the DH )
So I dropped by here to get a little positive energy going.....
Hoping some of yours will rub off on me!

Ah yes, agree on the no roomates, especially a snorer. Best to you also my dear! Will by saying a prayer for you. Soon we will be crown wearing princesses with some one else doing the laundry!!!!! Yipeee!!! (I HATE LAUNDRY)

PS Thanks to all for the anniversary wishes...we decided to postpone our celebration for a few months when we can celebrate pool or beachside somewhere with some fine wine or Mai Tai's

PSS Maria, Steph, Lisa C... I just re-read your posts again and want to thank you again for taking the time to share your stories, it is very meaningful to me. Of course, as we all know, the Cancer issue is so very scary, but decided to adopt Lisa C's attitude about it. to all of you!
