Second cone coming up...cin3 has gotta go!

Second cone is in 2 days and for some reason I'm more on edge than the first time around....honestly it hurts more to have a baby so it's not the pain's the unknown pathology results that are jacking me up.
Last December I had a cone that came back CIN3 with clear margins but still cin3 in the endo cervix.
I healed up and the follow up PAP came back cin3 so my Onco performed a biopsy which came back normal.
Because dysplasia likes to play hide and seek my Gynie/Onco wants to do another cone. So here we go again
I was concerned that my Uterus hasn't been checked so my doc is doing a D&C also.
Im 50 years old and no where near menopause, you could set your watch by my Ovaries
Fertility isn't an issue, I have 3 grown sons.
Im trying not to get ahead of myself and not dwell on the "what ifs"
BUT if I have no issues with my uterus...does it make sense taking out an otherwise healthy organ?
It hasn't come to that yet....but I have a feeling it will.
Ugh...I'm stressed, think I will go get my nails done.....sorry to ramble and vent. Whew!

Re: Second cone coming up...cin3 has gotta go!

See, we even have a smilie for that!

Seriously, though, it always plays on our nerves with procedures and the dreaded wait afterwards. Keeping busy and treating ourselves a bit seem to be good techniques for dealing with that, although nothing's perfect.

As for losing perfectly good organs, I hear you. My cancer was an early stage, but due to the cell type and my previous history, we were surgically aggressive and took everything, including perfectly healthy organs whose final path showed no sign of cancer. But, that doesn't mean there wouldn't have been issues down the road, nor that I wouldn't have been at a higher risk for recurrence, etc. I have to admit that I miss my ovaries most of all but would most likely make the same decision, if I had it to do over ( I was in my late thirties at surgery).

If things do come to that, do your own research, get as many opinions as you need, then do what you feel is best for yourself long term. We make the best decisions we can, sister. That's all we can do!

Re: Second cone coming up...cin3 has gotta go!

Love the smilie Monami, thank you!
I'm less anxious today....
Its amazing what a Mani/Pedi and a wax can do for a girl

My procedure is in the morning, I'm taking an overnight bag just in case I have to stay at the hospital.
My last cone turned in to an overnight stay because me and anesthesia don't get along very well.

Im hoping to hear from others who have had two cones, curious to know what others have experienced after a second cone.

Re: Second cone coming up...cin3 has gotta go!

Hi there - thinking about you and hope you are doing well. I have a story similar to Monami's, with final paths coming back clear, but I do not regret my choice for the relief of not having to worry about going through more issues in the future. It doesn't mean that we all don't have to still be diligent about our health, but it does allow me to relax a little more than I'd be able to if I continued the diagnosis / LEEP / diagnosis / LEEP / wash / rinse / repeat game!
