TENS unit for abdominal incision pain

When I had my last c-section in 1985, they put a TENS unit on my incision at the end of surgery. I was able to adjust the electronic impulses for pain relief...& the recovery was a breeze. It remained on for about 10 days. Has anyone heard of the TENS unit being used for abdominal hysterectomy recovery? I'm thinking of call my doc tomorrow & running it past her.

Thanks.

Tens unit

Never heard of it but it sounds great. Let us know what your doctor says about it.

Hi Cookie

I am familiar with the TENS machines but have not heard of anyone using it for pain relief with hysterectomy. As it increases bloodflow to the area I am not sure it would be a good idea in this particular instance. But I am not a doc or a nurse so I cannot offer any informed advice.
I am glad you are going to check wth your doctor first though before using it. Always a good idea.
Let us know what you find out. We will all learn something.
