New on the block

Hi to all the sisters, I'm new to posting on this board.
I have been on here reading alot in the last month, and I really love it. I have found alot of helpful info. I found out 6 weeks agos I needed a hyst. My date is 6/6/02 pre-op 5/31. I have had problems for the last 5 yrs. I had a cyst on right ovary. Been on many b/c, that didn't work, was on lupron 3 months, that didn't work. Had a lap done in 12/97 to remove it. 2 weeks after surery the pain came back. Went to Dr. the csyt had returned. 5/98 another lap was done to remove it again. It came back 3 months later. In 1999 I had 2 more laps to remove csyts. In 9/01 a new GYN removed right ovary with lot of adheisons. In March 02 I started having pain again. He suspected Adenomyosis, I had never heard of this. My Dr. recommened a hyst. I had heard of Endo, but this was new to me (aden.) So I come home and surf the web. So I know all about it now.
Dr. wants to try b/c's again for 1 month. that didnt work. So he ran some test. They came back to confirm Adeno. Now I'm having a hyst in June. I'm also having a Bladder repair and rectum repair, Dr is hoping to save left ovary, but when i had the ultas done 2 weeks ago I had a cyst on it. Does anyone know if they keep coming back. I'm hoping this is my last surgery? I'm a little worried, but also excieted to maybe having a nomal life again. To be pain free(what's that like) it's been so long not to any abdominal pain. I'm 35, I have a 18yr boy and a 13yr girl. My DD is going to be taking care of me. I'm wondering if I should have my Mom or Sister here for the first week? My DH can't take off right now. Any advise would be great.
Thanks for listening. This is a wonderful site.

Hi Lulu

Hello and welcome

From what I have read here, yes, the cysts can come back on the ovaries. Please ask your doctor what he thinks about saving the ovary or recurring cysts in your situation. It is nice to save them if you can, but many of us do not want to risk further surgeries if that possibility seems high.

I am glad you will have lot's of support at home. It would probably be nice to have your Mom or sister out for awhile if they can come. You will probably be resting and sleeping most of the time but it is nice to have the extra help if you need. Also, as your daughter is too young to drive to the grocery store or pharmacy for you an extra adult who is available is a good idea.

Let us know if we can answer any more questions.
