Hello.... (long)

I am new to this website. I have had many problems for many years, infertility, heavy cycles, no cycles, pain all the time, PCOS..

I have been through the DR. hoops for the last 2 years. I had the same GYN for 14 yrs. I finally tossed in the towel when he wanted me to do physical therapy! I changed DR and foound a wonderful man that listened to my syptoms. I had to jump a few more hurdles...but am now on the road to a (hopefully) pain free future.

Has anybody on this board been dx'd with PCOS...Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? If so, did the Dr remove the ovaries when you had your hyst? My Dr wants to leave ovaries, but I am not so sure I want to keep them. They have been a larger source of pain and other terrible side effects! I asked the Dr and he said he would like to leave them because with PCOS women have a trigger weight. If I get below the "trigger weight" the PCOS will go "dormant". Has anybody had any experience similar to this?

I am happy to have the surgery but would like to be well informed.

This is a wonderful source of information! Thank you for offering such a wealth of information.

Hello.... (long)

Hi Christine and welcome!

I'm glad you found another doctor to see. It's really hard to make a move to a new physician, but sometimes it's like opening a window and getting some fresh air! You may want to get more than one opinion on your PCOS...it can't hurt and it can only help you make a good decision.

I'd suggest that you run a search on PCOS using our search engine (little purple button at the top right of each page) and you'll turn up many threads on the subject.

You may also want to mosey over to Hysterectomy Options & Alternatives and ask the question regarding keeping/losing ovaries with PCOS...you may get some good responses there as well.

Whatever you decide, we'll all be here to help you get through this, and on to a happier, healthier life!!

So glad you are here with us...
