Folic acid, Vitamin E and fasting blood tests

Hi to all my sisters,
I know all DR's are different so I am just telling you what my DR said. No folic acid or vitamin E a week before surgery as it thins the blood and can cause problems with clotting.
Also, my DR wanted a "fasting blood test" pre-op which thankfully my nurse had warned me of ahead of time as the hospital is an hour away. Would have hated to have to drive all the way back! He chooses the fasting because he likes to know what the glucose levels are before surgery. Hope this helps! As I said, this is MY DR's preference but it's worth checking out ahead of time! Good luck to you all!

At the top of this message board there is a thread with info and it has a whole list if herbal supplements to avoid before surgery.

Here is the link:

There are a lot of seemingly harmless things listed that could cause you to have complications, or postponement of your surgery.
