Surgery is Tuesday and I have the cough from he##

Hi all!

I'm scheduled for a laparotomy on Tuesday the 21st to put my bladder where it is suppose to be, remove any adhesions or endo that may be hanging around, any remains of 'Herman the hematoma' and repair a small hernia at the end of my incision! (Not much!) The problems is that last week I was treated for an upper respitory infection and have developed a terrible cough! It's really bad when I start laughing! Then I start coughing and can't stop! I'm going back to the dr (GP) tomorrow to see if there is anything else that they can give me, but I already told him that I WILL NOT postpone this surgery! I'm a teacher and it has been a major production to get a substitue scheduled, lesson plans done, not to mention the paperwork that had to be sent to my dh's work so he can be home with me for 2 weeks!

Anyone else have this problem before surgery?

Hi Robby,

Sorry to hear about your cough. You still have six days before your surgery, hopefully you will feel much better by then. Going to your GP is a good idea, maybe he/she can prescribe something to help you get over your cough sooner.

Try to get lots of rest, and take good care of yourself.

Robby,
I hope your gp is able to give you something to get that cough cleared up. As Barbara indicated you do still have some time. Sending s and ers for a speedy recovery.
