Upcoming hysterectomy 10/12: I am only 24 (endo, PCOS complex hyperplasia)

Hello,

I am going to be having a Total Hysterectomy with the removal of my left ovary on October 12th. I have read a lot of stories about having this done in your 40's so I was looking to see if there is anyone who had to have this done or has to have this done while they are still quite young. I also am Bi-Polar and have BPD and I am super worried that this will defiantly set me back in that area. Any advice and/or tips?

Hi I am 33 I know not as young as you but I had my total abdominal hysterectomy on September 8, 2015 I had it done because of endometriosis and the pain that I had before my hysterectomy is no longer there. I'm not sure why you're getting yours but it was hard especially I do not have children and now cannot! The surgery itself was good well as good as a major surgery can be. I had a few hot flashes while in hospital after the surgery. It will hurt to cough and sneeze be gentle with yourself try not to get up use the buzzer for a nurse if you need anything. I assume they will get you to put on compression socks that just makes sure there is no blood clotting. I was scared but I'm out of surgery now 18 days and I feel great I just have to remind myself that although my outer incision is healed inside where the dissolving stitches are is not! Just follow your doctors orders word for word you don't want to give yourself a hernia just take it slow and it might feel like you won't get better but you absolutely will!

Good luck and wish you the best!

Re: I am only 24

Thank you Stephanie for the advice. I also have Endometriosis. On top of that I have PCOS and Complex Hyperplasia so I am at risk for cancer. I don't have children either and that is something that is hard to accept. I am so glad to hear that your pain from before is gone.

Oh Hunny, I can promise you your pain will be gone I know it's difficult about not able to have children but what my doctor said to me is my quality of life is not where it should be no woman should be in this much pain missing out on everything. So I hope you get the same results I'm sure you will and although it does hurt the actually surgery you should find relief from your issues prior to the surgery! Nothing to worry about I am still sad but know that this was the only option other than suffering! Hope you have a fast and speedy recovery when you get there. I slightly freaked out a few days before just not knowing what to expect but you get a feel for it once you wake up and a few days after surgery your limitations. I never had bleeding after the surgery like nothing even now not a drop of blood I hope that you get the same result after surgery

Re: I am only 24

Thank you again Stephanie. I have so many other health issues that I need to take care of and with all of it and plus all the pain and bleeding is just way to much. I will also be getting my appendix removed so I will not have to worry about any problems with that.
