Hey everyone! I haven't been on this site in forever, but I wanted all of you to know that I DID GET OUT!! I filed for divorce in September of 2003 because I finally took all I could when he hit my youngest child (age 7 then). We went to the police department and filed a report that day, too. Child protective services got involved and of course dropped the case, but the Judge believed me and he made sure that my ex had to see our daughter SUPERVISED. The divorce took 18 months and $50,000. My father paid this for me and the EX had a FREE attorney..Imagine that..I'm disabled and he was the abuser and got the free attorney!! I ended up doing well and made it through the divorce. I remarried after the divorce to my best friend and we've now been married for 2 and a half years!! Now I know what a marriage is supposed to be like. I really was unaware of how bad it was...sounds dumb, but true. As for my ex, he was arrested 2 times for breaking the protective order during the divorce that the Judge ordered against him. He will be getting done with 2 years probation in December, and that scares me because he decided 2 years ago to not see our daughter anymore and now she doesn't want to ever see her dad again. She has her stepfather that she considers her dad, now. My daughter, at times has bad dreams that her real dad is back in her life being abusive and it scares her. She has a whole new life without all that hell and wants it to continue without her father in her life. My other two older children who are grown haven't seen their father since the day he was kicked out of the house and they don't want to ever see him again, either. I hope everyone remembers me because I wanted everyone to know that I did get out!

I just read your first post. To tell you the truth I was in tears thinking how could a grown man act this way toward the woman he once loved. ( I think I'm just way to emotional). I want to congradulate you, not just for leaving him but for doing the right thing for you and the kids. I'm glad it all turned out good.
Good Luck!
