Almost ready!!

Well, one more day!! I get a little scared each day that goes by. Hopefully, my problems will be over. Trying to make the decision to take both ovaries or just the one that has the cyst on it.

Almost ready!!

Martony,

It's perfectly normal to get more nervous the closer you get to surgery day. Just try to focus on no more periods and all they bring with them!!

Good luck with your decision about the ovary. Personally, I feel if it healthy & working, leave it alone. That way you won't have to take hrt. But that is a decision only you & your dr can make.

Almost ready!!

Hi Martony,

Your wait is almost over! Then you’ll be on the recovery side and looking forward to a healthy new life!

As for the ovary decision – it’s a very personal one and one that only you can make for yourself and feel comfortable with it. I had a TAH and chose to keep my ovaries, if they appeared healthy upon examination during surgery. One of my ovaries had a small cyst on it. My doc was able to drain the cyst and save the ovary. She felt that both of my ovaries looked very healthy and the risk of any further problems was low by keeping them.

That was my biggest worry for my surgery. I just didn’t want to have to deal with hormone replacement. I know that so many women experience success early on while others struggle for years trying to find the right type and amount of hormone for them. But as I said earlier, every case is unique. You need to gather as much info as you can and make the decision that is best for you.

I wish you all the best for a successful surgery and recovery. I’ll be thinking of you on the 20th.
