Pre-op with Dr. today!

My surgery is still 8 days away, but I am seeing the today. He had mentioned he was going to start me on Heprin a week early, so I am assuming this is why. I'm sure we go over all the paper work, etc. I have my list of questions printed off! I am so ready for this surgery to be over. I also printed the "what to take to the hospital" list. I am trying to decide what to write on my belly (hahaha) and what treat to take to the nurses. I love those ideas. I love this site. It has helped sooooooooo much!
Kudos to the creators!

Pre-op with Dr. today!

Hi, Tammy! It looks like you are getting all prepared to be a pampered princess! I haven't seen mentioned here lately about getting a shower chair before you have a TAH. ( I don't think it's on the list you printed out.) A shower feels so good, but you may get very tired and need to sit, or you may start feeling a little faint, so I found a light-weight plastic patio chair worked great for me. I placed a hand towel across the seat, and I used that chair for 5 weeks!

Also, buy a few extra-large panties (granny panties or maternity panties) and some comfortable loose clothes to wear for a few weeks after your TAH--due to some swelly belly. Not everyone has a big swelly belly, but it's good to be prepared ahead of time. I had swelling for a couple months, and then it slowly went down. There are some funny past threads about swelly belly, and you can go up to the "search" button to look for some if you want a laugh!

Thanks for your kind words about HysterSisters! It really helped me to be prepared for my hyst, too, and be much calmer! I feel great now, almost 11 months after mine. s and best wishes for a smooth castle stay!
