My Pre-op today1

Went for my pre-op with my doc today. He explained in detail what my surgery will be like. Signed the consent forms, etc. I have total confidence in him. Also, had my CAT scan early this morning (before preop) and it confirmed my pelvic kidney....also confirmed multiple fibroids and enlarged uterus. My Doc is still going to do laparscopic hyst on me---will just go in with the laporscope on the left side of addomen, instead of in the center (navel area---where my kidney is). I'm a "new case" for him--as he's never had this pelvic kidney thing with a patient before. He said i will do great since i have a "virgin belly" i.e., i've never had surgery before in my life so he doesn't have to worry about scar tissue etc.
Hubby is nervous but doing ok. His father is a retired physican/surgeon, and he will be there during my surgery, in the waiting room with my DH. All is well---we will get thru this. I am actually feeling quite calm this evening.......hope it remains so.....for the next week!

Hi

Are you for the medical journal? Wow what a new thing to find out. Sounds like you have every thing under control. Nerves will be there but just don't let them bother you. They try really hard, but then have to give up because hey you are going to straighten things out and be a new woman. Or at least make the old woman happier . God's Blessings. You will do fine. Good thing your FIL will be with hubby he can calm him down.

Hi Shelley,

I am glad that they discovered your kidney was in an unusual location before the day of your surgery!! It sounds as if you have a great doctor. Wonder if your FIL will find it hard to stay in the waiting room with your DH or if he will want to take a peek in the operating room just to see how things are going?

Please be sure to get plenty of this next week - your recovery will be easier if you are well-rested when you go into the hospital.
