Oh, I know how you feel. I am a June 4ther and I'm SOOO ready. I'm just counting down the days. School ends on 5/31 and then 4 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking of packing my bag now!!!!!!! It's like waiting to give birth--I'm just giving birth to my uterus and thankfully I don't get to take it home

TC
I am counting the days too. Let's just hope we all feel better next week after getting it over with. I know we all may be sore and not wanting much the 1st couple of weeks but after that we should be ready to go and have a fun rest of the summer.

Hang in there Audrey

Audrey, I'm sorry that this is causing you such dread. I understand that you aren't prepared for it. Does it ever come at a good time in our lives? Well, yes, perhaps for me because I've been asking for it and this new Dr. said I NOW have a good reason for it. And, being a teacher, I have the summer off and expect it to take a good part of the summer to recover. 6 weeks of no exercise and not lifting so much as a gallon of milk.

We'll get through this. Hang in there dear!

TC
We will get through this. Only a few more days to wait. Do something fun this weekend and try to relax and enjoy. I know it's not easy, I think of Tuesday and Wednesday all the time but I am going to really try and stay busy and catch a good movie and good dinner with some great friends!

Ways to De-stress

Hi June Blossems,

One of the ways I de-stressed before surgery (which was a week ago today already!) was to take a candelight bubble bath, complete with soothing music. This helped me so much that I made it a nightly ritual. (And oh, how I would LOVE to take a bubble bath now! But I can't for three more weeks!)

Another good distraction technique is to either go out to the movies or rent one you've never seen. That helped a lot too.

Ladies, waiting truly IS the hardest part. Once you're on the other side and on your way to recovery, you'll see that. So just take a deep breath (don't forget to exhale) and hang in there. You'll be on the other side before you know it.

Best wishes to all of you. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

s,

Lisa

Lisa! I love being a June Blossom! Hey, and our flowers will no longer be red. <groan>

Guess I'm getting a little punchy waiting! Four days!

HI getting the blues !!!

Audrey: I had to write just to show "sisterly" support from another Audrey!

My DH and I found that a sense of humor helped (although when I snapped at our self-centered 7 yo DD right after surgery, I did have to remind him that my sense of humor was on hiatus for a few days!)

One thing we did to relieve stress and got a real giggle out of is...well...you know how they shave you for surgery? We decided that we'd rather have the honor -- since my surgery was at 1:30, we did it that morning -- lots of giggles and left with a smile on my face! (And used a better razor than the disposables they use at the hospital).

Also, since you have the time, research your post-op hormonal options. Now is a good time to do it, *before* your mind is clouded with anesthesia and whatever post-op meds you're using.
A great site I found is : http://www.geocities.com/NoLinks/index.htm which was chock-full of apparently well-researched information about HRT options. And you've already found this site -- use it well

Good luck.

Another Audrey
