Still can't urinate after LAVH/bladder suspension

I'm nine weeks post surgery and only urinating one-half ounce each time I try. Saw urologist recently who said it may be 6 months to YEARS before I can urinate on my own again. He also said my URO-GYN should have warned me about this likely possibility. To make matters worse, I also have developed urge incontinence which cannot be treated at this time because of the retention. GYN wants to delay removing the bladder sling for at least 6 months to see if there's any improvement. He says there's no guarantee removing it will result in me being able to urinate again. I don't get that! I could go fine before the surgery! Anyone else having similar problems? Any suggestions? I want to get a third opinion outside my HMO. Any great urologists in Michigan?

Diane
