BRAC 2 mutation Total laparoscopic hysterectomy with removal of cervix, uterus, tubes and ovaries.

BRAC 2 mutation, history of 2 breast cancers and now family history
With a sister having stage 3 ovarian cancer.
Doctor said I didn't have one ovary, (left) or already gone?
But recent ultrasound 2013 describe size of ovaries, and most recent 2015 describes hydrosalpinx /adenexa left ovary.
Does this lead to indications of reason not to remove left ovary?
Did I do the best thing to resolve BRAC 2 mutation issues with this surgery?

With BRAC 2 have sisters gone ahead with total mastectomy?

kellyk68,

Hopefully the women here in the gyn genetics forum will share their stories with you. Many have tested BRCA+. Some have decided to go on with mastectomy and others have decided to do some watchful waiting. Have you discussed your most recent U/S with your gynecological oncologist? Have you talked to a genetic counselor? They are the real experts at helping you understand your risks. Also I wanted to give you a link to our gyn genetics articles. Not all will apply to you, but the BRCA articles are great as are the articles about heredity. Best wishes and

Re: BRAC 2 mutation Total laparoscopic hysterectomy with removal of cervix, uterus, tubes and ovaries.

Have an appt next week with surgeon, he told my husband I was missing an ovary. It was still. There when I looked up reports from 2013 and 2015. (With hydrosalpinx).
CAN NOT do any more SURGERY!
I have spoken to genetic counselor and genetic oncologist, just too many doctors and procedures
Thank you! I appreciate your reply....
