rectoseal and cystoseal with LAVH

I am having a rectoseal and cystoseal in addition to a complete LAVH. After reading this I am more nervous. My surgery is May 31 and I am teaching a 50 student Musical Theater Camp in exactly six weeks following my surgery. I know I am crazy, but now I am seriously worried about my ability to handle this. Anyone else have this procedure? What was your experience with recuperation? [color=deeppink][size=3]

Hi Deana

Welcome to Hystersisters

I am sorry I have no experience with your condition and procedure. I am sure some other women will be along soon who can give you more information on recovery for these procedures.

You can also use the purple search button in the upper right hand corner to search on those words. You will get some previous threads to read through which may be helpful.

Also if you haven't already done so please read through the pull down menu's on the Home Page. Lot's of great information for both pre and post op help.

rectoseal and cystoseal with LAVH

Hi, Deana! I also wanted to welcome you to HysterSisters--best site for support and comfort and info! Here is one link to a thread with women discussing cystocele and rectocele You can also go up to "search" and type in A&P repair (for bladder and rectum prolapse, etc.) to find more threads. It seems most women find these repairs more painful than episiotomy done with vag delivery, but there are measures to make it more comfortable.

As far as being ready to take on 50 students at 6 weeks post op, I think you will be feeling pretty good, but not back to 100% yet. Is there any way you can have help with this so that you are not on your feet for long periods of time? A vag hyst usually takes 4-6 weeks for recovery, but sometimes longer--especially if you are having extra repairs done. You want to prevent stress on the stitches and fragile tissues as they heal, so you should be doing no lifting, no bending, no heavy housework (including vacuuming) and no extended periods of standing. Your dr will give you specific instructions and limitations, but you need to be nice to your body and let it heal properly. You don't want to undo all the work your dr has accomplished!

Read all you can here and ask any questions you think of. We'll try to answer and we'll be here to support you on this journey! s and best wishes!

I had a TAH with Bladder suspension and rectoseal repair two years ago and was only off work for two weeks. Other than activities that jar your insides, you should be on your way to normal at six weeks. Of course, I have a desk job and don't spend a great deal of time on my feet. Can you teach from a chair? Good Luck!
