Why the Wait?

I am relativly new to this, but notice that many of you schedule your surgery a month or more in advance. Why do so many wait so long after making the decision? My case was a little different, but I agreed to the surgery on Thursday, and on Friday his office called me to say it was scheduled on Monday.

Just curious.

Every place is different. In Ontario Canada where I am from our Medical care is all taken care of no insurance needed. That is great but the wait is longer. Took me 3 months. My Dr has so many hours in OR a week so it can take a while to get a surgery.

Anyway that was my situation. Trust me you are lucky!

Take care and good luck on Monday.

Why the Wait?

I had to wait until I got through with my gallbladder surgery (which was last week). DR wanted me to recover from that first. I did try real hard to convince him to do it at the same time...lol, but to no avail.

Why the Wait?

Thanks for the info! I guess I am lucky, my doc has OR time twice a week, and one of those is with an assisting surgon. My insurance was great too, I had 7 different diagnosis codes that would have each indicated hyst, so no problems there. They even paid my claim less than 3 weeks after surgery and I only owe $283 for 4 days in the hospital. I guess I should add all that to my list of things to be thankful for!

I had to wait 2 mnth because I was severely anemic and my dr did NOT want to operate. Apparently you can run into more complications.
Only six more days!
I am soooo nervous.

Why the Wait?

Mine took a couple of months partly because my ob/gyn shares surgery time with 6 others in his practice (but this I don't mind - they're truly the best practice in this part of PA)....and he's on vacation for three weeks in July *grin*.

I'd rather let him recoup and relax on his vacation...heehee...then come back and make me perfect

Why the Wait?

It mostly depends on the OR schedule and the doctors surgical schedule. I had to wait about a month.

Why the Wait?

My doc let me select the date, when it was "only" for fibroids, excessive bleeding, etc. and not anything lifethreatening. Once I got back an abnormal pap he said we might have to move it up, but I just got my path report back a few minutes ago and can wait until July as planned!!! YEAH!!!!

In my situation, I have lived with all this for several years, so I can go a couple of months more. It was my choice, based on the 1st window of opportunity of being able to take 6 whole weeks off work without a hassle as well as working into the schedules of my DBF and DS and DFs who will be caring for me. Sure, we would have worked SOMETHING out if I had to do it sooner, but this way is more convenient to me.

Other sis's postpone til school starts so the kids will be gone and they can rest easier, post-castle visit. Guess there are about as many reasons for waiting as there are for needing a hyst in the first place!
