Hibermate Sleep Mask!!

While surfing the web for various types of sleeps masks, I came across this one (and many, many others), but this one deserves a good look. It's called the Hibermate sleep mask by Complete Sleep Systems. Althougg it does cost more than the little cheapie ones ($20.00 + s&h vs. $6.00 + s&h),.. it appears to be a much better product. I've seen it mentioned here many times, and even in the hyster sister book (mine just arrived yesterday!!), how much a sleep mask can help achieve the beneficial rest we need by blocking out light. This mask blocks out ALL light, and also has (detachable) earmuffs (or as they call them ear "pillows") which are said to filter out 50% of noise... making things quiet enough to rest, yet not so much that you can't hear the kids are okay, or if the phone rings, etc. And,.. without the discomfort of earplugs. It also is size adjustable with a velcro closure in the back, and completely machine washable. The outer cover is made of satin, and the inner lining is made of soft poly/cotton so that it is warm & cozy in winter, and cool & breatheable in summer. The price is a little steep compared to the little travel kind, but the quality seems to earn it's value. I'm planning to order mine today!! Mine will be going to the castle with me to be used as well as once I'm back home.

Sleep Masks

If anyone is wondering if they'll need a sleep mask in the hospital, the answer is YES.

I took one I had bought at Target ($4) and used it the whole time I was there at night. Worked like a charm since the nurses always turned on the big light over the bed when they came in to do anything (which was every 2 hours the first couple of nights.) The nurses giggled at it, but agreed it was a perfect idea. One even told me to put it on once when I forgot, since she was going to flip on the light.

Ear plugs would have been nice too, though I my room wasn't very noisey, but my last night there, some dear old soul in the room next to mine came back from surgery and moaned and groaned like a water buffalo all night.
