yet another Question

Hello and ask all the questions you want. I had 2 laparascopies done before hyster. A lap in Nov 00 where an adhesion was removed and the other in Dec 01 when right ovary and appendix were removed. Then my tvh on 4/23/02. For me, there was a big difference in pain, mostly a cramping feeling. Pain is different for everyone. Pain after lap was 3-4. After hyst was 6-7. Well managed with pain meds, so don't be afraid to tell doc and or nurses you need more to manage your pain. You cant heal properly if you are in pain. All will be just fine.

Best Wishes,

yet another Question

I've never had a lap, but I had a TVH. I had a spinal with a happy shot (versed) beforehand, and had very little pain, just very mild cramps for the first day or two. I had some more discomfort around 3-4 weeks as the internal stitches were dissolving, but ibuprofin took care of the pain in the hospital and afterwards. I think the worst it got in the hospital on a scale of 10 was a 3 or a 4 at the most. It really was not what I expected it to be like at all. The last few years ibuprofin barely put a dent in my menstrual cramps. Compared to that, any discomfort from the hysterectomy was minimal.
