Waiting...and waiting...and waiting....

Greetings all. I'm new here but have been lurking for several months. Been dealing with the endo monster and various orthopedic and abdominal surgeries annually for longer than I care to remember. The docs have been telling me for years that I needed a hyst but I just couldn't do it. I always held out hope that I'd miraculously conceive but it didn't work out that way. I finally faced up to the fact that I'll have to do this before age 40. For whatever reason, that was an acceptable age for sterilization. Go figure!

I started a new job last year and have to wait for my 1-year anniversary on December 1 to receive short-term disability. Doc says I'll be out for 6-8 weeks - more income loss than I care to absorb if I can help it. Unfortunately, the pain level has ratcheted up in the past month and I'm not sure I'll be able to hold out that long. I suspect endo-related scar tissue has interfered with the bowels again because every time I eat or drink anything I go through hours of agony. Going to the bathroom is an exercise in masochistic torture and sex is completely out of the question. DH has been so wonderful about that. It took a while to convince him I wasn't just making excuses, but when he heard it from the doc he saw the light and has been very supportive. The guys just get so squeamish about our internal plumbing, don't they?!

I'm going to the on Tuesday to see if there's anything that will help me limp through the next few months until December. Lord knows surgery is never convenient, but why does it always seem like our bodies betray us at the absolute WORST time?

Thanks to everyone who posts here. You are all more help than you know. Later!

Hi Jennifer

Welcome to Hystersisters. I am glad you decided to post.
I am sorry you have been through so much discomfort already and now may need to wait until December for your surgery.
I hope the doctor can address your pain and give you something to get you through comfortably until Dec.
I am also sorry to hear that you were unable to conceive. That can be very difficult to deal with when faced with hysterectomy. Please visit the Aching Hearts forum if you would like some additional support.
Please keep reading and posting. We are here for you.
