Painful incision, infected incision, painful hips

Ok ladies, questions?

I am 21 days post op/TAH, had right ovary removed Jan 02 for 5.6 cm ovarian cyst. Infected incision in Jan and for surg in May. Full of endo, left ovary full of cysts. Fibroid tumor as well. Endo was attached to bladder/Might explain all the UTI's I had.

Will an infected incision cause soreness in your stomach and incision? Turns out I had 3 bacteria's show up in my wound cultures. I have been on antibiotics for 9 days now, turns out it wasn't the right antibiotic to treat all 3 bacterias. Just started a new antibiotic yesterday. I started having bilateral hip pain yesterday as well. Is that just where things are going back in place?

I am glad that most of this nightmare is over. I think my hyst was the best thing I could have had done. Ironic that my problems developed Sept 01. Although I had problems years ago, just wasn't diagnosed til Jan 02.

Any help on my questions will be greatly appreciated.....

Hi OutspokN2,

It sounds like you've been through an ordeal, having to have 2 surgeries to correct your problems. And then, to have an infection on top of it all.....not much fun!

I didn't experience a wound infection, but I think that any new symptoms you develop should be discussed with your Dr. right away. It could be part of the normal healing process, or it could be related to the infection. In your case, I think being cautious is much better.

Infections can sometimes be tricky to treat, but it looks as if your Dr. is doing the right thing in identifying the bacterias causing yours and prescribing the appropriate antibiotics. I hope that this new antibiotic clears things up for you.

Best wishes and s
