Radiation, anyone??

I'm new to this site and need some additional info about pelvic and vaginal radiation from a sister that knows. I had this radiation in March and April 2001 and don't seem to be away from the side effects yet... Am I the only one with this complaint, also hormone level finally dropped since January 2002.

Radiation, anyone??

Hi Audrey,
I finished my pelvic radiation a year ago as well, as a matter of fact, I am celebrating one year cancer free, this week. Please let me know if I can help you in any way. What hormone levels are you talking about, that have dropped.

Hello sweetie!

Wonderful to hear from you. There are so many girls that have gone through radiation and they are here to help you. RobynB and Valentina are great gals and will help you in any way they can with your questions. I am scheduled for internal radiation (vaginal) on the 18th of June. I have been told that patients can be medicated with an epidural. Since I am having a laser surgery, I will be asleep. I guess this is farely new, and the other girls tell me I am really lucky. I am having casings of radiation inserted into my vagina and then the proper dosage will be administered to the area. I am told I will have few side effects. I will be sore and will lose some hair, otherwise I will be kept comfortable after with meds. I am getting a little nervous as well, so if you would like to chat, feel free to e-mail me anytime. Hugs and prayers to you. sss and Thank god we have this site for all of us to share.
