How long does it take for estrogen patch to work?

I had my hysterectomy & oophorectomy just over 1 year ago. I have finally broke down and gotten put on an Estradiol patch (Alora). Started it 3 days ago and am ready to rip it off and go back to using nothing. My hot flashes have tripled ND the intensity is much worse. How long does it take these things to start working. Ready to bawl my eyes out.

3 days is not a fair trial if this is going to work for you. Your levels are likely fluctuating as your body adjusts to the hormones. The fluctuations can cause hot flashes and other symptoms. You need to give it at least 4-6 weeks, maybe longer. I would suggest keeping a journal of your symptoms. The journal can help to see if things are getting better or worse over time.
