hayleyb's Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Story

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
Age at Surgery 45
Location: Minot North Dakota

I had suffered for many years with very painful periods. They lasted a long time and were very heavy. Last year I finally got a decent doctor who figured out I had bi-lateral ovarian cysts, enlarged uterus that had fibroids on the outside.we discussed other possible treatments to reduce the size of my fibroid but I ultimately decided to get it all removed to reduce the risk of cancer which runs in my family!

My surgery was July 12th 2016, I am not sure of the anesthesia I know we discussed it but that time is a bit of a blur. I had same day surgery, I was happy to be able to go home to the comfort of my bed. In hindsight I think it may have been better to spend the first night in hospital. When I woke up in recovery it felt like they were still in there it was pretty unpleasant, but at this point I was still just relieved to have everything gone.I figured at least there was going to be and end to the pain.

I experienced a lot of pain in the the first week and ended up in the emergency room, they did ex rays and determined I was extremely bound up so they told me to take laxatives and stool softener . I did for a few weeks and started to feel much better so I stopped I was having regular bms so I thought it would be fine.I started to notice my belly was swelling a lot and in a lot of pain back to the er I went and once again I was bound up magnesium citrate in hand and home I went. This is how it has gone from then on!

My health is not great I can't use the bathroom and have trouble eating I feel fairly frustrated by this whole experience and wish I would have never had this surgery, at least I knew what I was dealing with before it!

Get all the information about every thing that can happen after this surgery before you make your decision!
