I am scared...cancer of the womb

Pussycat -

I can't tell you anything specific about your cancer concerns, but I'm sure you must feel totally overwhelmed right now. I can tell you the surgery itself is not bad. Has your date been scheduled?

There is a forum for Cancer Concerns you might check out. Here's the link:

I'm sure the sisters there can give you the kind of information you're looking for.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

Big s Pussycat

I'm glad you found hystersisters. There is alot to be learned here on the pre and post op forums. However, I would like to extend an invitation to you to come visit in the cancer concerns forum. I am a hostess there, and although I had ovarian cancer, there are many women who post there that share your diagnosis. You must be very frightened. Cancer concerns is a great place for advice, support, hugs, and encouragement. Come on over and tell us more about yourself. I'll be looking for you!!!

Think we're in the same boat

My gyn. called me on April 23 and told me I had cancer cells in my uterus. Is this what
you meant by cancer of the womb? I had a hysterectomy May 14 and will find out June 27
if I need further treatment. You're much braver than I was. I didn't even look for groups
like this until AFTER the surgery. If I can be of any assistance don't hesitate to write!
Best of luck........Carol

I won't be able to contribute alot but there have been several gals here on the Cancer forum who've dealt with Uterine cancer (if that's what's happening).

You might want to do a search of some of the past posts to gather information that might be helpful in calming your fears.

Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. We'll try to answer any that we can.

Hi Pussycat,

It's really scary when you are first told you have got cancer, I know. But womb (or endometrial/uterine) cancer is one of the most curable cancers.

Here are some links you might find helpful:-

When is your op going to be? Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you want any more info - or if you just want someone to talk to!

Hi Pussycat

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I know this is a scary time. You will get through this and be fine. Please know you have lot's of support here to get you through this experience.
The terms Uterine and Endometrial cancer are often used interchangeably. Is this what you have?
Fortunately, for most of us this is caught very early. Although facing major surgery and a hysterectomy is not something most of us would want to go through, it usually cures the uterine cancer. Surgery alone is typically all that is needed. We are lucky in that we rarely need additional treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation.
For me the tiredness, frequent colds and flu's, mood swings etc., have all been cured along with the cancer. I can tell you I feel better than I have in years. And the good news is that my prognosis is that I am about 98% assured that there will not be a reoccurance. Frequent check up's are needed for the first year or two however.
Please feel free to email me if I can answer any questions for you.

Me too.

I too found out that I had cancer of the womb, or uterine cancer. I had my hyst and the pathology report came back great. No treatments needed.
It sounds so very scary going into this whole cancer thing, but it can be beat. Having cancer is not a death sentence. Always remeber that. You may have cancer, but the cancer doesn't have you.
From my own experience I know that all of the cancer can be removed with a hysterectomy. Not always, but it can be. It is a slow growing cancer. I looked at the American Cancer Society web site for more information. Keep in mind that these info sites are clear cut information so they tend to be a little scary.
Keep your chin up and spread the word for people to pray for you. Prayer is the only thing that got me through this ordeal.
Lots of hugs and prayers,
