yeast infection

First of all.. I will be calling the DR office today that is oncall, so that way I get his advice right off.

Now on to the question... has anyone had a yeast infection prior to surgery? Can they still do the surgery? I am 10 days pre and have developed an infection due to taking antibotics for a sinus infection.

I am obessing over everything lil thing that can possibly go wrong for them to cancel this surgery and it is driving me nuts! I have my entire life planned around this surgery and I HAVE to have it. Not that anyone else here would understand this...lol.

Awwwwww BIG HUGS to you Hun, you will be fine and i wish you all the very best for your big day.
One thing that I have found that is brilliant for yeast infections especially after taking antibiotics is 'ACIDOPHILUS" tablets.
For five weeks after my Hyst I had to take antibiotics and they made me feel quite ill, along with a yeast infection. My Homeopath told me to get some and I take them regularly now. Try them, Acidophilus is also found in some yoghurt (spelling) lol.

yeast infection

I know that feeling, Lesa!

I had a really bad cold about 2 weeks before my surgery (in the past, my colds have often turned into bronchitis) and 5 days pre-op the surgeons' strike here escalated to the point where they were cancelling even urgent surgeries. I had everything arranged around my date (including my mother flying here from the other side of the country) and I was so stressed at even the idea of them cancelling me. Thankfully, it all worked out.

With 10 days to go, my experience is that you'll be able to get a handle on the yeast infection in time, regardless of whether they would go ahead in spite of it. I'm glad that you're getting the doc in on this later today, though.

Good luck. Let us know how you're doing and what the doc says, okay?

Got medicine

Got ahold of the DR on call this morning. She was a wee bit funny though (in a not real funny way actually). I told her my plight and she said "well why couldn't you take the medicine?" I was like, "I just need to make sure it will be ok to put in me before the surgery, as it is not like I have had this surgery in the past" ...LOL. She realized I just needed some direction and told me it was ok. She called in my medicine for me (insurance pays for it).

Oh Silly DRs ... when will they realize that this is not an everyday thing for us!

I take acidolphilus on a daily basis and know good and well of it's great benes, but thanks for the reminder! I am diabetic and sometimes it never fails no matter I do (no sugar at all, triple my acidolphilus dose), if I have to take antibotics I get a yeast infection.

Thanks for help and hugs!
