6 Days Postop And In Need Of Help!!!

Hello Ladies,
I hope you can help me with this I am scared and confused. I had my surgery last friday, things went very well and not much trouble until I left the hospital on monday. When I got home I felt great for the first day then that night I fought a terrale fever and horriable sores in my nose and on my mouth. When I woke up the next morning after finally getting to sleep, I awoke to a high fever again and my nose swollen shut on the right side and starting on the left due to sores ( i think they are fever sores but not sure) anyway I keep getting worse now I am having horable pain on the right side of my incision and terrable bladder spasms. And my fever is still continueing to stay high around 102. I was just wondering what you ladies think is happening to me, I have called my doc and he gave me antibiotics, but it is not even phasing it at all, so please help, and did this happen to any of you??????? thank you all so much, Kristi

Kristi,

Did your doctor know how high your fever was? This does not sound good --- you might want to go to an emergency room. Don't want to scare you, but if it were me that's what I'd do.

Keep us posted!

Any fever over 100.5, you need to go to the hospital! 102 is too high. Like you, I felt great for the first couple of days, then my body went into shock. My fever got to 101, but it went down when I took Tylenol. The sores sound pretty intense- Honey, you've got to be uncomfortable. Go make them take care of you!

Keep us posted on what's going on with you!

Kristi,

When your husband has a 102 fever and his nose swollen shut, he can stay home from the hospital. In the meantime, this is your health care, and you want to heal right. You may need IV antibiotics.

Did the hospital give you a number to call if you had problems? If they tell you to come in, maybe DH will get it. The point of recovery isn't to see how tough you can be, it is to take care of yourself so you can fully heal.

Maybe this is some wierd reaction that will disappear, but you are the one who is living in your body. If you are scared, then you have a right to trust your instincts. I am sorry that he isn't supporting you- sometimes when people get scared, they get cranky.

Call the hospital, okay? There should be a # on the paperwork that you were released with.

Let us know what they say!

need help

Dear Kristi, I agree with the other ladies, call the hospital right away and see if you need to come in! That fever does not sound good and neither do your other symptons. I'm not trying to scare you but if I were you I'd rather err on the side of caution than to have it turn into something worse because of not getting proper care. Please let us know what you plan to do and how this all turns out. We care!!! s to you and I'll keep you in my prayers. Kathyanne

I am hoping by the time you are reading this you have been to the ER. Just as the other ladies have said, you are in charge of your health issues, It is hard enough to heal from major surgery without complications. I was given instructions to go to the hospital with a temp over 100. You may be right about the sores. The virus that causes "cold sores" tends to activate when we are under stress which you definately are. The thing is until you have been seen by a doctor you don't know what you are dealing with. Please keep us posted, I will be watching for you and keep you in my Karlene

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, go to the hospital! I had a fever of 103 a week post-op and ended up back in the castle for 9 days with abdominal bleeding. Still have the drain in my belly to prove it. You may have an infection or bleeding or something wrong. Take care of yourself and don't worry about your DH, let the doctor have a nice "chat" with him and explain the seriousness of the situation. Don't wait until you gett too sick and end up having something else MAJOR happen. Take care of it now and don't try to be super woman like I did, it only gets you in deeper trouble! I'll be keeping you in my rayer:s! Take care.

6 Days Postop And In Need Of Help!!!

Kristi, please go to the ER and have them just check what is going on. I came home two days after my hyst only because everyone was pressuring me to come home. I didn't think I was ready, but I told the dr. I wanted to come home. That night I started getting really strange anxiety attacks. I kept getting them the following day. I told my DH to take me to the hospital and he thought I was being paranoid. We were driving to the hospital in the morning and he talked to my DR. who called in some prescriptions for me(zoloft, something for nausea) and told us to go back home. We did and I took the med. That afternoon, I was getting horrible panic attacks, couldn't breath and my fingers and face were feeling numb. I begged my DH to take me back to the hospital and we called my DR. on the way. It turns out that I had a pulmonary embolism brought on by the surgery and I could have died if we hadn't gone to the hospital. I'm sorry this is so long and I don't want to scare you, but it's better to be sure there's nothing seriously wrong.
