Severe Back Pain

This is my first post, but I have been reading the previous posts and any and all information I can find. This site has been very comforting to say the least.

I am scheduled for a TAH 7/31, and more than a bit nervous about the whole deal. I've had very irregular periods for what seems like forever and cramps, clots, flooding, etc. Although I'm only 39, the test results show my hormone levels are way below normal.

My question ----- for the past week or so, I've been having extreme lower back pain mostly on the right side, but sometimes spreading across to my left lower back. It's sorta like really, really bad cramps. Doc says I have a bladder infection, but I don't have the burning, urgency that generally goes with it.

Are there pains just complicated by my tenseness over the upcoming surgery or do you guys know of anything I can do in the meantime to get some relief?? The Macrobid prescribed for the infection is making me break out, and I hate to call the doctor again for fear they'll think I'm just being impatient for the surgery.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated --- so far the only relief I've found is my ever-present heating pad!
