It's been 8 days--time for Milk of Magnesia?

Hi again fellow sisters,

I wrote earlier this week about Go Lytely making you go later. Well, today I had the heated prune juice/apple juice cocktail and much to my delight, I was finally able to have a BM (although I don't know if I'd call 2 small "pooplets" a real satisfying one!)

Anyhoo, I was thinking of taking some Milk of Magnesia tonight to see if I can move things along a bit. I'm not in any discomfort from not going, but it is making me a bit nervous. Actually, I am pretty relieved that something finally did come out though!

Should I take the full dosage (I think it's two tablespoons) or go with a smaller one?

Thanks,

Karin

Having similar problems

I am 7 days post-op and after several enemas, MOM, prune juice, fresh fruit, liquid diet, etc...and suspicion of a bowel obstruction by my doc, an x-ray and rectal probing, a friend of my mom's (who is a Hospice Nurse) told me to freeze several dime size balls of Vasoline and than roll them in sugar and eat 2 at a time (10 in a day) a chase it with some hot tea or some other hot beverage of choice. I have finally started things going, even though slow, I have been several times today and finally felt like eating a solid meal. Try it, it was better than the prune juice! Good Luck!

Karin,
You can always try a suppository if the MOM doesn't work. It helped me in the hospital when I had severe gas pains. I know
it isn't the most pleasant choice.
Are you eating right? I had to make myself make the right choices.
The bran cereals with fruit help in the morning and of course
plenty of water and some walking as tolerated.
I know I was fearful that it was going to hurt when I had a BM,
and I think the anxiety made things worse.
Good Luck and I hope things work out ok (No pun intended)

Take the smaller dosage, if you've already taken something else!
I kept taking things, and became very bonded with the toilet for 5 days!:run3:
