post menapause

I went through natural menapause and it wasn't to bad. A few hot flashes (one very humorous one in the middle of a client meeting), not sleeping well... But it all passes eventually. I've always known how high risk I was - every woman in my family has had reproductive organ cancer or one type or another. I've never taken HRT. If my arousal is a little slower, I just tell my DH to play a little longer.

I've never felt "older" or less feminine without HRT. Even without taking estrogen, I still ended up with an "excess of estrogen" cancer. Who knows what strange turns the body takes. Life isn't a "controlled experiment" so you never know when you're lucky.

My mom eventually died of lung cancer at 75. Even during her last week, she believed by stopping for one cigarette one time saved her from being run over by a car at a much earlier age.

This is getting pretty maudlin. Must be a bad day for me. I'll come back later when I'm less philosophical.

Laura
