9 days post hysterectomy - pressure in lower abdomen and pelvis

I feel like I should be feeling a lot better than I am! I have pressure in my lower abdomen and pelvic area when I stand or walk for the last 3 days and it hurts when I urinate almost like a bladder infection....is this normal or should I call my doctor tomorrow? I have a habit of letting things go and suffering through the pain cuz I don't want to look weak but I don't want to sacrifice my recovery and extend the time I have to be off work

Re: 9 days post hysterectomy.

Hello Noel72

I am so happy that you found us here!

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing additional pains. That being said pain that you did not having when leaving the hospital or increasing pain or discomfort 9 days from your surgery is something to give your doctor a call about. They should have an afterhours number also. It will afford you the opportunity to make sure that if something is going on you maybe have caught it early.

Also increase your water intake .

Here is an HS article that provides a little more information also:
UTI after Hysterectomy

Please let us know how you are doing sweetie!

Re: 9 days post hysterectomy.

Are you using a pillow when you stand/walk? If you hold a small throw pillow against your abdomen when you stand or walk, or cough or sneeze, that may help.
9 days is really early in the healing process! I was resting a lot, and walking a little, at this time.
If you have any concerns or questions, don't hesitate to call your doctor! It's better to call and be told it's normal than to wait too long and end up with a serious complication
Good luck!
