How Did You Choose Your User Name?

Even though you would think that there would be no story behind my user name (Dany = short for Danielle, right?) there actually happens to be

I am Danielle and have always been. In real life, I don't even like to have my name diminished, or changed. However, when I was in High School, I used Dany as a pen name. You see, I always enjoyed writing and, back then, I "published" poems in our school's journal.

Since then, I've always signed my "litterary" masterpieces with the pen name "Dany".

Soooooo, when I came here, I automatically did the same. And was actually surprised that the name had not been used by anyone else .

Sooooo, even when it seems like there is no story behind a name, sometimes, there is one .

How Did You Choose Your User Name?

Well, Mine is boring as well, NancH is just my name (actually Nancy) with my last name Initial attached. I tried it using the *Y* but that was already taken and I was in too big a hurry to find information about my hyst to sit around and try to be creative at that point.

How Did You Choose Your User Name?

My username is a nickname that was given to me 26 years ago when I was 14-years-old by my 18-month-old foster brother. My parents kept foster children for years, and they all called me "Sissy" (not because I was a sissy, but because I was their sister!)

Well, little Stoney came to us and we immediately fell in love with the little guy and wanted to adopt him. During the two years that he was with us, I took care of him and we developed a special bond. Try as he might though, he never could say Sissy, it always came out Shashi, and pretty soon, everyone else in the family picked it up and started calling me Shashi too.

We never did get to adopt little Stoney, as the DCS moved him to another foster home when my dad had an accident and had to have surgery and extensive therapy. I never saw my little brother again, but to this day, my family still call me Shashi, and I decided to use it as my user name on several sites. I always remember my sweet little brother whenever I see "Shashi".

Hugs,

Lisa

These are interesting. Glad someone started this thread.

Mine isn't very original -- I'm Vicki, bf is Bill, 5 kids between us -- Aaron, Kyle, Jordan, Cassey & Steele. Just stuck the initials together in an order I could remember easier -- thus vbjacks5.

Sister Katie

Hi Everyone,

I've posted on this one a while back but here it is! My name in a large Catholic family is "Mary Katherine." Katie was my nickname since I remember. To all my family & relatives I was "Katie." My first dog when I married was a sheltie. I was in business then and known as "Mary." My DH & I named our first doggie Katie. She was a wonderful doggie & I still miss her. Anyway...that's where I came up with Katie. Also, I went to Catholic schools and when I was very young I wanted to became a Nun. So that's where the "Sister Katie" comes from.

Sister Katie

PS: I also had an Aunt that was a Nun & most my DF's consider me a "Sister".

Now, HOW did I come up with this username, you ask????

It all started about a month ago, when I went to a new vaginacologist to discuss all my ongoing problems. We talked over my options, and he sent me home with a bunch of literature. Being the inquisitive sort, I went online and found this wonderful site!!!

I lurked for a few days, learning as much as I could, and called the doctor back to let him know I had decided upon a total abdominal hysterectomy.

Then I decided to sign up so I could post and chat etc. You can see what my frame of mind was when I signed up. I was pretty scared, but feel much better about my decision now.

Let's have a contest to re-name me for after my TAH!!!

Any takers!!

Hey Shannon,

How about "PrincessChicken", "Who'sAChicken" or "NotSoChicken" for after your TAH?

How Did You Choose Your User Name?

I had just seen Rod Stewart in concert and I wanted my user name to be Maggie-Mae, after my favorite song by him. Well that was taken and so was plain Maggie so I just typed it backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love,

Okay. I have been watching and reading for awhile and decided to register after I felt comfortable (you are all a wonderful group of ladies!) and as I sat thinking of a name, I saw my sandals sitting by the backdoor so I came up with "Sandal"! Better than dishrag or ceiling fan
