Colon issues

Hi ladies,

Has anybody been able to feel their colon movements more after a hyst?! I am very thin and am able to feel what seem to be large air pockets moving through when I place my hand on my abdomen. Weird, huh?

Also, anyone have soreness around the incision at nine months post op?

Blessings to all,
L

Hi there!

Although I'm not very thin (oh the good old days) I sure know my colon is there since my tah. I had ibs before, but now I really notice what's going on in there! I was just now thinking about whether or not I should schedule a colonoscopy (had one in '93) because I'm super paranoid about colon cancer. I lost 3 grandparents to it and w/my tummy issues, I wonder if it's a good idea to have it done every few years.

When I press (ever so lightly) on my abdomen I can feel stuff moving around...especially after I eat. If you ibs there is treatment for it.

As for the incision...after 2 years sometimes mine still gets twinges of pain after heavy activity. But if you're worried, go see your doc!

Take care!

Colon issues

Same here - I'm not thin anymore either (sigh), but I sure can tell a big difference since the surgery. My GI doctor said it is gas pockets caused by my adhesions. All I know is, you can hear my tummy in the next room. It is constantly gurgling and rumbling. I call it my "rumbly in the tumbly" as Pooh would say. It even makes noise when I go from a sitting to a standing position. I can also pull in my stomach and it makes horrible noises as many times as I do it. It sounds like a sewer line gone mad!

Seriously, I hate it and it really causes me great distress. I had a colonoscopy last December and all was fine - just lots of adhesions. I am hoping to get the GI doctor to give me something for it when I see him in September. So far, nothing I do is working.

's!

Wow, sorry it's causing you so many problems. I don't take anything for it 'cause it hasn't bothered me. It's just weird. I hope you get some relief soon!

Colon issues

I get the same kind of thing, I had my TVH last Sep. & my IBS has been really kicking up. My name for it is the "Tummy rumbles" - very loud !! I have never been able to feel anything untill recently, only thing I can figure is its a lot of gas in there. I had a barium enema done recently which showed diverticulosis, which I already know I have.
You could give your dr. a call if it concerns you. I hope you find something that helps with it. 's
