No, you're not too fargone!

Just hang in there! (sometimes that's easier said than done!) Things will get better. I'm nearly a year and one half postop and it's taken nearly that long to get things back together. You are doing the right thing coming here to get information and support. Doctors can't really tell each woman how things are going to go after this type of surgery, because each woman's experience will differ widely. It is sort of up to the woman to be in charge of her personal "research project." Use these forums to glean information and use your doctor as a resource. Most docs worth going to will welcome this approach as they will not know what is going on with you unless you tell them. Pop over to the hormone jungle (where everyone is using their flashlight to find their way through the trees) and around to the post-op and other message boards and you will meet a lot of the sisters who are going through some of what you are going through. I'm sure that some other sisters will come along to encourage you too! Welcome!
Linda (another one--we seem to have good taste in names!

I am so glad you found us! Hon, please contact your dr and let him know how you feel. This surgery is so hard on so many and there is help available. Read as much as you can on this site. The Hormone Jungle, The Road Less Traveled, Prayer Requests, the chat room, and of course here. So much information here. We're here to direct you to a path of well being. Keep in touch. Karlene

Hi Linda,

Another Linda here. There are lots of us here at HysterSisters! Good thing we found each other huh?

I'm so glad you said that about not being the same person. I like to think of myself as having things pretty much together, and mostly I have done real well since my surgery 6 months ago, but about 3 months post op one day my DBF (boyfriend) of almost 7 years said to me "You're not the same person. I want the old you back." I knew what he meant, and I agreed with him too, but I still cried and cried after he left. After a while I decided it's OK to feel that way, that I am a different person now in some ways, but that doesn't mean I'm not as good as before. Maybe I'll be better? I can try, anyway. And so can you.

There might be lots of reasons you're not feeling yourself lately. Are you on HRT? Maybe your hormones aren't balanced yet. The Hormone Jungle forum would be a good place for you to look, to get an idea of how other ladies are dealing with these issues. This is a very comprehensive site, with lots of different forums to explore. I have met so many wonderful ladies here, who have helped me a lot in dealing with this surgery and everything that goes along with it. I'm happy you decided to post on our board. Welcome!

s,
-Linda
