Vivelle vs Vivelle dot

I sent away for a three month supply of vivelle this week. They arrived this am and they are not the "vivelle dot" but the regular "vivelle". I am concerned about the difference.

I realize that they are larger, but is everything else the same? I went to the Vivelle site and they talk about the vivelle patch using the matrix transdermal delivery system and the vivelle dot using the "matrix dot" transdermal system. Is there any difference in them?

I am concerned as I have previously had adhesive reactions. When I did a 30 cardiac event monitor, I had bad reactons to the monitor patches. Even the pediatric patches gave me a rash. I am afraid that these will do the same. Or even worse, not work in the same way and mess up what seems to be a good hrt level without any skin reactions.

Am I worried un-necessarily? (I do tend to do that!! )

PS anyone ever successfully return anything like this to a pharmacy? I did not open any of the boxes.

Vivelle vs Vivelle dot

Hi Caren,

I'm pretty sure they're the same but they don't list the ingredients in the adhesive (I use the Vivelle dot) so I can't comment on that.

Yes, I've had to return patches once -- they dispensed a generic instead of the name brand when I was on Climara. I got home and opened the bag and surprise!
There was no problem returning them since I hadn't opened the boxes.

Good luck!

Vivelle vs Vivelle dot

I hope you don't have any reaction to the adhesive. A lot of women have posted that they don't with Vivelle Dot. I did have a skin reaction to Climara patch and the Vivelle Dot. My butt looked like a checkerboard! But don't despair even if you can't use the dot. If I understand compounding pharmacies correctly, they could mix you up the same hormones that are in the dot in a cream or gel. I'm trying bi-est with progesterone right now. The jury is still out on it for me. Good luck with Vivelle. A lot of women swear by it.
