Endo after Hyst

Hi All,

What a great site this is!

I've been experiencing mild Endo cramping on my right side for the past week. I had a TAH LBSO in June of 01. I would like to hear from anyone who has gone through more Endo after a hyst.

From the begining (for those interested)

In June 00 I went in for a tubiligation. The GYN surgeon who I had just been reccomended to me by my PCP so she never knew my history, but then no one did because I thought it was normal, found an orange sized leaking chocolate cycst growing from my left ovary. It had attached itself to many areas. She classified it as stage III.
9 months later I became anemic, my periods were still the usual heavy bleeding, and the pain became more intense with time had a vaginal ultrasound and there were 2 masses growing again on the left ovary. They were 1 inch and 3/4 inch in size. She wanted those taken out and just before I got wheeled in I told her take anything out that looks bad. She agreed. When done all was gone but the right ovary. She said that was perfectly healthy and had never shown any signs of endo so why remove it. She did not want to see me go through surgical menopause.

I know that I need to let my doctor know about this and I will, I just can't believe that the Endo has returned.

Scince age 11 my periods have been heavy and painful. My family thought I just had bad periods. I was always under the influence that they were supposed to be bad until my surgeon told me No way! maybe some discomfort.

Thanks for your support

Wow your story is some what like mine! I had a TAH dec.1,2000 at that time kept ovaries because they were fine on Oct 17,2001 i had a lap for an endometrioma on my left ovary my gyn could'nt get to it , due to all the adhesions in there he partly drained it that was it after that he was begging me to due lupron i refused and basicly he would'nt bother with me! So i went on a gyn hunt found a new one he is wonderful, on 4-24-02 I underwent a laperatomy( cut you open again)! This dr. removed both overies and tons of adhesions basicly i was all stuck together yukkie! He removed as much as he could!
Well today i'm getting some wonderful cramping i truely believe its endo again ! I have a really great intern i see at a clinic she also believed its endo again, she told me alot of the times even during surgery that stuff hides in there and its hard to see, and when theres one lesion there is usually another! I'm going to call her back because the cramping is getting worse! Were going through job changes and insurance changes( my hubby is, i don't work)!
So yes it is possible endo is a very stubborn little bugger!
sending you tons and tons of 's

Endo after Hyst

Hi Ladies,

Need to vent.....I saw my doctor who could not feel anything doing an internal, ordered an ultrasound which revealed 3 small cysts within the right ovary. 2 of them are very small so she believes those are follicles (sp?). The 3rd one is 1.5 cm and has echos in it which she thinks will break away on their own. My ovary is regular size which is good. She will do another ultrasound in 8 weeks to see if that 3rd mass/cyst has grown.

Does anyone have experience with echos or even with the whole situation? I personally think that Endo is coming back. I do experience mild cramping on a daily basis.

Thanks for listening

Endo after Hyst

Carla,

I wanted to pop in here to offer you my support. I too am dealing with the Endo monster....even with both ovaries gone! I'm wondering if I may have a remnant....well that's another post LOL!

I'm sorry...I don't have experience with 'echos' but I'm sure other sisters will be along soon to share.

I recently had an u/s done that showed a questionable mass on my bladder. I'm sure it's the Endo....as the bladder has always been a problem for me and Endo.

I believe that we all know our bodies best. I could tell within a faily short period of time post-hyst., that I was still dealing with Endo pain. It took months, but I finally found a dr willing to do a lap and give me the diagnosis.

I will be seeing an Endo specialist next month. Is there a doc that you can see that is a specialist in this field?

Please keep us up to date...and know that we are here for you. I know how hard this is....sending you many healing S

Endo after Hyst

Terry and Judester,

Thanks for the replies. It does seem as though we walk around in a different zone than others. I feel like a broken record. There must be something in our bodies that the Endo thrives on. I wish I knew what it was.

I wish you both luck with your fight against this horrible stuff. It is wonderful to know that there are other women to confide in.

Thanks!

Endo after Hyst

Meeee!!! Had a TAH/LSO in 2002 and endo was found (even burned off my right ovary, but left the ovary itself. Early 2004 I did a 6 month course of Lupron because my gyn "thought" the endo was back. Less than 2 months after I finished the Lupron I had a lap RSO and lysis of extensive adhesions and active endo was found. So, I haven't had ovaries or HRT for 9 months now and have that same 'ole endo pain and PMS symptoms! Like (((Jude))), I suspect ORS. I see my gyn this Wednesday (7/27) and will post as to what she says. Good luck to all dealing with these issues!!!

Thanks for the reply! Do let me know what you find out! I know my GYN wants me to do bc shots, but the side affects sound worse than the endo! And lately my endo is causing frequent and constant pain, but it isn't to the unbearable stage, and I would like to keep it that way!! I know eventually I have to have my ovaries out, but HRT after that won't help the endo (my gyn won't touch what is on my bowel walls) so I feel like I am between a rock and a hard spot! There is a ton of info about endo, but not what to do about it AFTER the hyst! (Well, besides pull your hair out!)
