2 weeks and counting - I'm ba-a-ack!

I had my laprascopic supracervical hysterectomy on 8/5 and am on the road to recovery. Very good friends took care of me after I left the castle and I feel really good. Although I was passing gas and had a BM within a couple of days, I'm not doing so well now. I'm reading all the info of others who have had this problem. Hopefully, the juice and walks will take effect soon, huh? I'm seeing my doc (who was fantastic!!!) on Thursday so if no resolution by then we'll discuss. Thanks for providing a great place to learn about hysterectomies, ladies.

2 weeks and counting - I'm ba-a-ack!

Hi PrincessC

We are almost neighbors! I am in Los Altos and had my surgery in February. I remember some tense times, trying to get the sluggish bowels moving again. For me, some things that helped were lots of water, warm prune juice, chocolate covered raisins (!!!!!!), ice cream and coffee with cream, and frequent short walks. Eventually everything did come out ok, so to speak!

Hope you are able to get "going" soon. If not, I'd give the DR a call. Don't wait till Thursday (5 days from now?).

s,
-Linda

2 weeks and counting - I'm ba-a-ack!

I had a TAH on 8/5. My bowels are still struggling too. I did not have a BM until 7 days later - had used two suppositories and MOM twice before that without success... my doc was starting to get a tad worried. To get the one I had I had to use a fleet enema. Now nothing comes out unless I use a glycerin suppository... and then it is really watery. I can tell something is going on because I feel lots of movement in my intestines. I have had very little gas. Still feel a little bloated - before I finally was able to go the first time I told my doctor I looked like I did when I was pregnant!!

I don't have any good suggestions... I have walked alot yesterday and it didn't help. I am drinking tons since I also have a bladder infection - no success. I will have to try some colace or the MOM again I guess. I feel like I have to go alot but no results in the bathroom.
