Nerves

I have 12 hours to go until my TAH. My nerves are going nuts. ANyone have ideas on how I will get to sleep tonight? I have the urge to cry but at the same time I don't. I have cried enough the last week to last me for a while. I am not scared of the pain after, I am scared of the surgery itself. Can anyone calm my nerves by telling em what the waiting part of surgery will be like?

First calm down!! I know, that is easier to say than to do. I was a bundle of nerves the last night too, but surprisingly, I was very calm in the morning. Once you are actually up and moving toward getting this done, it actually feels better, like finally the wait is over.

You will be fine. 12 hours and you will feel like a new woman. Good Luck! and we will be waiting to hear your story.

the nite before

Hang in there. Once you are there and in the hands of the nurses, you will be fine. I have had a couple of C-sections and a gall-bladder removal..Abdominal prodedures arent a a pic-nic, but its gonna be well worth it.

My surgery is scheduled for noon tomorrow, I am oddly, not a bit nervous. I think the waiting to get in is the hardest part, but if they are running on time and there are no delays, you won't have time for nerves Roll with it and above all..enjoy the meds! LOL.

Here we go !

Dear Kballer,

The waiting is definately hard to go through! I know my imagination was a lot worse than what actually happened! The only thing I can think of, to pass the waiting time, is to keep yourself busy doing something you don't have to put any thought into like, watching a movie, reading a book, or giving yourself a pedicure. (toenails only)

Are you all packed? Do you have any bowel prep. to do tonight? Are you going to shower tonight or tomorrow morning? I remember the night before my surgery and I was so preoccupied doing the bowel prep. and taking a shower that the time went by. I actually fell asleep, even though I was so nervous, after my shower! I had a very early surgery time and the hospital wanted me to arrive an hour and a half early so I had to get up around 5:00 a.m.

You can tell the nurses at the hospital that you are very nervous and they will probably give you something to calm your nerves. Tomorrow will go by very quickly and you probably won't remember most of it!

Everything will be OK! TRY TO RELAX!!

When you go to bed tonight try some visualization techniques. Take some deep breaths, get relaxed and then picture your surgery going smoothly and gently. Visualize your doctor, anesthesiologist , and nurses being totally there for you and supporting you in your surgery. Visualize the operating room being bathed in a blue, calming, healing light. You are going to do just fine.

I share this with you because that is what i did the night before my surgery and it did help!

's to you. You will do great.
